About the Truck Parking Finder

Truck parking is scarce, expensive and stressful to plan. TripCostCalc's free Truck Parking Finder shows truck stops, motorway rest areas and HGV-friendly parking near any European address — so dispatchers and drivers can plan an EU-compliant rest break before they roll, not after the tachograph card runs out.

Truck stops & HGV-friendly rest areas

Search results are biased toward places ranked as truck parking by Google — motorway rest areas, dedicated truck stops, freight depots and 24h lorry parks — not consumer car parks that don't fit a 16 m tractor.

Overnight parking and 45h rest breaks

Plan your weekly 45-hour rest at a secure truck stop with showers, fuel and food rather than improvising at the next lay-by. We surface the address, rating, and a one-tap directions link.

Cross-border and motorway-network coverage

Works everywhere Google's POI data does — France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Romania and the rest of Europe — so you can plan rest stops on a Lisbon-to-Warsaw run in one tab.

Free, instant, no sign-up

No account, no app to install, no fleet contract — type a city or postcode, get the truck-parking map. We don't store your search or your truck details.

How it works

  1. 1

    Enter a location

Type any address, motorway junction, town or postcode in the search box — or tap the location icon to use your current GPS position.

  2. 2

    Get the truck-parking map

We query Google's Places dataset for truck parking biased to a 15 km radius around your search point, so you see options on the motorway network, not just inside the city.

  3. 3

Pick a stop and get directions

Tap a result for ratings, address and a one-tap directions link straight into Google Maps — no app install required.

  4. 4

Plan the rest of the route

Combine with the Truck Route Planner to estimate diesel, tolls and vignettes for the full trip, then save the round-trip to your history.

Truck-parking tips for European drivers

Book secure overnight parking in advance for the weekly 45h rest

From May 2026, in many EU countries the weekly 45-hour rest period must be taken outside the cab in suitable accommodation. Secure truck parks with shower/food/wifi (Bosch Secure Truck Parking, Truck Parking Europe, Snap, BP TruckSafe) get fully booked on Fridays — reserve early.

Use motorway service areas for the 9h daily rest

If you're only doing a daily 9-hour reduced rest, large motorway service areas (Autogrill in IT, Aire de service in FR, Autohof in DE) almost always have a few HGV bays. Arriving before 18:00 is the cheapest way to guarantee a spot.

Avoid city-centre parking — most ban trucks above 3.5 t

City centres in Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain have HGV-banned zones (Umweltzone, ZTL, LEZ). Park on the outskirts at a freight depot or motorway service area and use a delivery van or taxi for the last mile.

Check Sunday/holiday driving bans before you stop

Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia and Switzerland enforce HGV driving bans on Sundays and public holidays. Pick a truck stop that's safe and stocked to wait out the ban — running on Sunday morning to find one is rarely worth the fine risk.

Truck parking FAQ

Type your current city, address or postcode in the search box at the top of this page, or tap the location pin to use your GPS. The map will show truck stops, motorway rest areas and HGV-friendly parking within ~15 km, ranked by Google's relevance scoring.

Many results returned are part of secure-parking networks (Bosch SBT, Truck Parking Europe, TAPA-certified depots, BP TruckSafe). Look for high ratings and 'secure' or '24h' in the place name. For weekly 45-hour rest breaks (which under EU rules must be taken outside the cab), book a secure parking spot in advance — Friday and Sunday nights fill up days ahead.

Yes — almost every European motorway service area (Aire / Raststätte / Autohof / Autogrill / MOP) has dedicated HGV bays for overnight parking. Big stations are typically free for a 9-hour rest but heavily occupied after 19:00. Pull off early or pre-book at a secure facility.

We bias the search toward truck-related POIs using Google Places' relevance ranking for the query 'truck parking'. Some results may still be mixed HGV+car facilities — check the place name and reviews to confirm. We're working on a stricter HGV-only filter using OpenStreetMap's `hgv=yes` tag as a future enhancement.

Yes — free forever, no sign-up, no account, no data storage. You can search as often as you like and we don't save your location or vehicle details. The map is powered by Google Maps and respects their terms of use.
